Reclaimed Oak 60" Round Jameson Pedestal Table

Here is our 60" Oak Jameson Pedestal made from reclaimed beams pulled from an ancient structure in TN. We are thrilled to be hand delivering this piece to our customer's vacation home in SC this weekend.

These are exciting times for Rustic Trades! In the next 30 days, we are opening a new branch in the Denver Colorado Market. Our shop will be located in Colorado Springs, CO with a potential showroom located in downtown Denver. Our goal is to bring our exceptional furniture to the west coast. A hub in Colorado is the best place to start... The mountains add to the excitement!

Your Life...Well Spent

I am constantly reminded why we focus on building these amazing tables. I am reading a book, "A life well spent" and had to share the authors experience after visiting the Biltmore House in Asheville, North Carolina. He writes:

"This house was built by the Vanderbilts of railroad-industry fame and fortune in the mid-1800s. What caught my attention as we went on a tour were the large eating rooms with adjoining sitting areas. Much emphasis was placed on mealtime in those days, and it wasn't uncommon for each meal to last two hours. So much of the space in the house was allocated to the dining rooms and breakfast areas because the family spent a lot of time there in conversation and dialogue--before, during and after the meal. It was during these conversations that values and training of the next generation took place.

What a contrast to the typical American family today--ours included."

At Rustic Trades, we value what happens around our dining table. It's for "family" these heirloom pieces are built, and there's a reason we want them to last generations. We desire for strong values to be built to last, and for hopes and dreams to be deeply instilled and fulfilled. It's about family, those "like" family -- and all those who are invited to sit at your dining table.

We may be able to master the art of woodworking over time -- it takes practice, but not without a conscious effort. Same goes for those important conversations and dialogue; it would be hard to master the quality of TIME...without a lot of practice.

We hope your Rustic Trades dining table is a place where you can spend many hours!

A Personalized, Metal Base Conference Table

We seem to never be surprised by the truly unique ideas our customers dream up for their particular space. This next custom order was brought to us by a rather creative company, who solely make it their mission to go 'above and beyond' just the ordinary. Wits' End Productions is accustomed to adding flare and excitement in everything they do...even when it comes to needing a conference table.

At Rustic Trades, we enjoy trying new things. This time, by "new" we mean:

  • building a table on a metal base, not a solid wood base;
  • using a solid white oak slab top without our typical rustic, rough knots (making it a smoother surface for better functionality and writing);
  • and personalizing a table by branding it with the company logo.

They say there is a first for everything, and this order was no exception. Wits' End Productions provided us with their vision, and together we discussed how to make the natural feel of oak fit right into their high-tech environment.

Time was also of the essence; this was the very first table to leave our new shop!

We were happy to deliver just in time for this special occasion:
"We are very fortunate to have a wonderfully creative and loyal client for many years. Even though we have done work for them for years, they have not had the opportunity to visit our office. We wanted to make a statement when they walked into our conference room, so we added the comfort of oak with the high-tech look of a magnetic glass blackboard. They loved the look, the uniqueness, and the comfortable ambiance the table added to the space." - Hallie, Wits' End Productions

…and that's how we put the word "custom" in customer.

It was a pleasure to work with the creative WITS' team!

A Table in Serenbe

The name "Serenbe" (pronounced Seh-Rin-Bee) might cause you to raise an eyebrow, but in an odd way...also inspire a sense of living...without a care in the world.

At least that's what it does for us. could simply be the New South Food Co. blog post by guest blogger, Eliza, that swept us away into this idyllic little community just south of Atlanta.

It is obvious this little town of Serenbe is trying to sustain the best of quality living. A quick read of their development plan notes a real focus of "community living for multiple generations."

We love the idea of a simpler way of life and like meeting people who share our same value: creating things that last "multiple generations."

I guess you just never know what's outside your back door.

Eliza writes about her love of Serenbe and deciding to make a home here. She reached out to us to help complete that rustic appeal for her farmhouse, and her house is now home to several Rustic Trades barn doors and a round Jameson table, all in our slate grey finish.

You won't' want to miss the mouthwatering recipe for Strawberry Rhubarb Crumble she shares, either!

As if having our table and barn doors featured in a blog wasn't enough…

Take a trip to Serenbe.

Bake up some Strawberry Rhubarb Crumble.

And maybe you, too, will be enjoying life at a table that will last multiple generations.

Thank you for sharing, Eliza!

(P.S. Eliza's home can be rented for getaways and long term stays in Serenbe. Scroll to the home "Lake Haven" to see more.)

The Weston Trestle Dressed up for Christmas!

We have had the privilege to make a few pieces for a recent customer who loved our tables and story. Here is what she had to say about Rustic Trades:

"Can I just start by saying this company is AMAZING!

My husband found Rustic Trades' website browsing online at furniture one day, after looking at the photos online we called and made an appointment to come to the shop and see the tables in person, we were blown away! The tables are absolutely beautiful and we had to have one, or three, in our new home. We needed a table for our dining room,

Breakfast area, and a coffee table. Although Clay had not made a similar coffee table, he accepted the challenge and reviewed photos and dimensions we sent in, and made a table even more beautiful than we initially planned!! We relocated from Georgia to Missouri and Clay went above and beyond to find us the right moving company at an affordable price, and even paid money out of pocket when the moving company was higher than we initially thought. Clay and his team called and emailed several times throughout the process to keep us in the loop and even once we received our tables to make sure we loved them.

I am so beyond proud of our tables, and how beautiful they are,
and I love knowing we have a piece of Georgia here in Missouri.
If you are looking for a beautiful, custom, handmade table, from a quality company that is reliable and you can trust, Rustic Trades is the only place you should be looking!!"

We are honored to be a part of their story! Here are pictures of their table this past Christmas.

Have a great new year!

Spreading Holiday Cheer with Rustic Trades

In honor of the holiday season, we wanted to celebrate and thank our awesome customers!

When we built our first table many years ago, I never imagined we would be a part of your family gatherings. We are grateful to be a part of the significant moments and conversation shared over your table, as well as the memories that will forever be ingrained in the very presence of it. It is a privilege to be a small part of that. Thank you!

Every year we have customers who send pictures of their table decorated for the holidays. Sometimes it’s a picture of their family around the table for Thanksgiving, other times it is the place setting before the meal on Christmas day. Each year we look forward to catching up with our customers and their table. We love love love knowing we are a tiny part of your family traditions and are so delighted on holidays thinking of all the people that share meals around our tables.

Here are a few pictures of our tables used their very purpose, family. Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas from ours to yours!
